Man and dog killed in house fire near Clayton

A man was killed early Monday in a house fire on Guy Road near Clayton.

Around 1 a.m., firefighters responded to a home on Guy Road near U.S. Highway 70, between Garner and Clayton.

According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, firefighters found a man and two dogs inside the home. 

The man was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

One of the dogs died. The other dog was taken in by the Wake County Animal Center.

The WRAL Breaking News Tracker saw a person being treated at the scene. The single-story brick home appeared to have fire damage to one of its front windows.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
