14-year-old bicyclist dies after Nashville crash; teen driver charged

Days after a teen was killed while riding his bike in Nashville, another teen is facing charges tied to the crash.

The crash happened around 2:54 p.m. Wednesday on South First Street near South Creek Drive.

According to the Nashville Police Department, the teen was seriously injured and flown to a regional trauma center. He died Friday afternoon.

Police said the 17-year-old Nashville driver remained at the scene and was helping the injured teen when officers arrived.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol charged the driver with driving after consuming alcohol while under the age of 21.

The crash remains under investigation. Police said the case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office to determine whether any additional charges are warranted.
