Man killled in one of two shootings on Hoover Road in Durham in less than 24 hours

Durham police are investigating two separate shootings along the 1100 block of South Hoover Road within a 24-hour period, one of which killed a man.

A child was shot overnight, around 1 a.m near Angier Avenue. A girl was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said she was in stable condition.

A second shooting happened around 2:15 p.m. An adult attempted to intervene between two teenagers - a male and a female. The male teenager shot the adult and ran away from the scene.

Police said the man was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police did not say if they think these two incidents could be connected. The investigation is ongoing.
