Providence takes No. 1 in final baseball rankings for 2026

Posted: 6/6/2026, 6:23:44 PM

For the second time in the last five seasons, Providence is the No. 1 team in the HighSchoolOT baseball statewide rankings.

The statewide top 25, presented by the State Employees' Credit Union, has been around for six years. This year the Panthers, who were also No. 1 in 2022, went 31-2 and won the 8A title.

Right behind Providence were NCISAA 4A champ Charlotte Christian, 5A champ North Lincoln, Myers Park, and 7A champ Marvin Ridge.

In total, seven state champions finished the year in the top 25: 6A champ Southern Lee (sixth), 4A champ Bunn (12th), and NCISAA 3A Grace Christian of Sanford (24th).

All other NCHSAA and NCISAA state champs were ranked in the area code top 15 rankings. The No. 1 teams in their respective area codes were: D.H. Conley (252), Southern Lee (919), Whiteville (910), Reagan (336), Providence (704), and South Caldwell (828).

The HighSchoolOT top 25 is the state's top set of rankings, featuring teams from all classifications across the four major associations.
