'Run for love' raises money for Triangle LGBTQ organizations

On Saturday morning, nearly 1,650 children and adults gathered at Dix Park to partcipate in the Run for Love 5K.

The event is sponsored by nOG Run Club and Trophy Brewing. The race encourages individuals and familes of all ages to stay active and spend time together while raising money for LGBTQ organizations.

The Kid's Fun run was a 400 meter race for kids of all ages. The 5K began at 9:00 a.m., and participants ran through Dix Park. The event ended with an after party featuring food trucks, drinks and local market vendors. 

The race was $50 for an individual, $90 for couples, and $180 for a family of four. (additional family members were an additiona $45 per person.) Children were welcome to participate in the children's fun run at no cost. 

Race winners recived a Trophy Brewing gift card. The top three overall female and male runners won gift cards: $100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third place. 

nOG Run Club has a goal of raising $30,000 this year for local Pride organization. Organizers said they believed they were close to meeting that goal for this event.

All proceeds for this race will go to Raleigh Pride and the LGBT Center of Raleigh.
