5-year-old boy killed in hit-and-run in High Point

High Point, NC (WXII) - An investigation is underway after a child was killed in a hit-and-run, according to officers iwth the High Point Police Department. 

On Friday, shortly before 5 p.m., officers said they recieved a call about someone lying in the road near the intersection of E. Russell Avenue and Hines Street. Upon arrival, a five-year-old boy was found in the street. 

They said he was hit by a car, and taken to a nearby hospital. He died from his injuries. 

Officers say thd driver left the scene, but investigators believe the suspect's vehicle is a gray Ford Focus or Ford Fiesta, possibly from model years 2012-2018.
