A man is behind bars and two people are recovering after an overnight shooting Saturday on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh.

Raleigh police said officers were called to reports of a shooting around 1:45 a.m. on Saturday. Police said a man and a woman had been shot on Glenwood Avenue near Jones Street. Both are expected to be OK.

Police said the shooting stemmed from a fight between Nashon Ramsey, 30, and the man who was shot.

Officers arrested Ramsey at the scene. He faces several charges, including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, carrying a concealed weapon and discharging a weapon in city limits.

Ramsey is being held without bond at the Wake County jail. His first court appearance is on Monday at 1:30 p.m.

Officers also charged the man who was shot with simple assault. Police have not yet released his name.

Police said the woman who was shot was an innocent bystander.

WRAL News spoke to people at Demo’s Pizzeria & Deli, a business nearby that is open late. Some employees said they witnessed the aftermath of the scene and said these occurrences are becoming more frequent despite the heavy presence of police patrolling the area.

“I see the police and the ambulance and a lot of people, and they closed the street. Sometimes Fridays are good, sometimes Saturday [is] good, next week crazy” said a man who only wanted to be referred to as Ahmed.

This shooting remains an ongoing investigation.
