Weddington takes No. 1 in final softball rankings for 2026

Posted: 6/5/2026, 6:09:20 PM

For the first time, Weddington is the No. 1 team in the HighSchoolOT softball statewide rankings.

The statewide top 25, presented by the State Employees' Credit Union, has been around for six years. This year the Warriros went 27-0 and won the 7A title — the only undefeated team in any classification.

Right behind Weddington were 8A champ Providence, 6A champ South Caldwell, Corinth Holders, and D.H. Conley to round out the top five.

In total, nine state champions finished the year in the top 25: 3A champ West Wilkes (eighth), 4A champ Southwestern Randolph (ninth), NCISAA D2 champ High Point Christian (10th), 5A champ Enka (11th), 1A champ Robbinsville (13th), and 2A champ Roxboro Community (18th).

Two other state champs were ranked in the area code top 15 rankings. The No. 1 teams in their respective area codes were: D.H. Conley (252), Corinth Holders (919), Union Pines (910), West Wilkes (336), Weddington (704), and South Caldwell (828).

The HighSchoolOT top 25 is the state's top set of rankings, featuring teams from all classifications across the four major associations.
