Pinecrest takes No. 1 in final girls lacrosse rankings for 2026

For the first time, Pinecrest is the No. 1 team in the final HighSchoolOT girls lacrosse statewide rankings.

The statewide top 25, presented by the State Employees' Credit Union, has been around for six years and Pinecrest had never finished higher than 14th. This year, the Patriots went 22-0 en route to the 8A championship.

Right behind Pinecrest is 8A runner-up Apex, 7A champ Chapel Hill, then Weddington and Marvin Ridge to round out the top five.

Other state champions who finished in the top 25 include NCISAA D1 champ Providence Day (sixth), 6A-1A champ Charlotte Catholic (eighth), and NCISAA D2 champ Asheville School (25th).

The HighSchoolOT top 25 is the state's top set of rankings, featuring teams from all classifications across the four major associations.
